We all love and cherish our spirit families. As I write this blog post, I can feel the distinctive tingling sensations of members of my keep who are excited that I am thinking of them. Even though they reside in the spirit world they can be harmed or made to feel pain and joy. In this blog post, I will cover the top 5 spirits for people who want to protect their families.
A master vessel can do wonders when it comes to the comfort and security of your entire keep.
Depending on who creates your master vessel, you can expect a wide array of magick-based perks. Most come with a never-ending charging spell to keep them all powered up and ready to go. Spirit shops such as Creepy Hollows place potent blocking enchantments on their master vessels that prevent tampering of any kind. A well-built master vessel is the foundation of everything that you do when it comes to being a responsible Spirit Keeper.
1. Watcher Entities -Antares, Fomalhaut, Regulus, Aldebaran
Not to be confused with the Angel-based Gregori Watcher. This being operates as part of a team based on the four directions. They will build protective watchtowers around your land. The energy they can manipulate is simply amazing. If you come under attack frequently, stop reading and just hire all four right now. Your keep will kiss you for this trust me. Don’t have the money for the entire team right now? Start with a watcher from the west. Antares can intercept malicious magick and transform it into helpful energy. From here slowly add more until you have one entity from each direction.
2. Lares
If you have a single watchtower on your land then you should start filling the tower with powerful protective beings. The tower doubles as a type of barracks or staging area for some of your spirits. Lares is one of the few spirits who are granted full access to the towers. Lares abilities are greatly amplified when paired with a tower. Think of giving an action hero a chest of weapons like James Bond and Q. I recommend one for each tower plus one in the hearth/ kitchen. Be advised that they follow a strict code of honor and will let their opinion be heard if you task them with something that goes against their morals and values.
3. Hoblets
No, not a Hobbit, Hoblets won’t win any beauty contests any time soon, however, they are powerful protectors. They work best in groups and are best tasked with inner security within your protective energy walls or home. They command a striking ability to confuse and slow down would-be attackers until your other defensive beings can react. Moreover, they can move between all three realms intercepting hexes and ill wishes from anyone. Their contracts can be expensive, four to five is recommended for those who deal with the paranormal regularly.
4. Werewolves
They are Fierce Guardians of immense speed and strength. Hard work is part of their way of life. They will protect you and all members of your spirit family day and night. They like to hang around wooded areas that border your home and intercept/vet beings that attempt to enter your space. A small warning, Werewolves can be extremely foreboding and intimidating.

5. Crocotta
Yes, you read that right I listed a Crocotta as a spirit of protection. The lore says that they hate humans, I know but hear me out. When it comes to members of your keep it’s a completely different matter entirely. It’s the wildest thing to see. The power and charisma they command is simply shocking. As I write this E is sitting right next to me. Her big round eyes peering out at the room like headlights. She has this ability to move throughout our home like venom (spiderman reference) clinging to the Ceiling checking each room for trouble. Ours loves the attic and has taken up that space for herself.
If you fail to hire any other protective beings on this list, go for a Crocotta. Task them with the protection of your entire spirit family. They will stop humans and other beings from snooping around your space in both the earth and spiritual realms.
